George Harlan was born about 1781 in the Cherokee Nation. He was the son of , the daughter of the famous Cherokee Nan-ye-hi (Nancy) Ward and her third husband, a white man named Ellis Harlan. George married four times, to Nancy Sanders, Nancy Vann, Mary Ann May, and Eliza Riley. George and Mary Ann removed to Indian Territory as “Old Settlers” in 1835. |
