Captain Daniel May [MAY 102-06] was born in Lawrence County Tennessee in 1827. He married Martha Caroline Martin in 1845. In 1869 Daniel left Lawrence County, TN for Gibson County, TN. While in Gibson County two young sons die and one son (Robert Caredeth) was born. They moved from Gibson, TN and arrived in Fannin County Texas by June 1870. Daniel is listed in the 1870 US Census records of Fannin County, Texas. The reason Daniel left Lawrence County is not known. There were some May families in Gibson County Tennessee before 1870.
