Talmage Mallaugh Clayton told me that William John Clayton and his son Stephen Hardy Clayton were friends of Jesse James (1847-1882). Because of what he was told Talmage doubted that Jesse was really murdered. He said his father Enoch Frankilin also passed on information about Jesse staying at their home.
